Nice To Meet You! I'm So Glad You're Here
Ahead Is My Origin Story
I'm Mary Galbraith, and growing up, I was a classically trained artist with a focus on the world of photo-realism, spending the first 15 years of my journey honing my skills in oil painting and detailed sketch portraits. But over time, I found myself craving something more—something that allowed me to express my imagination and creativity more freely.
I've always been drawn to the magic of animation. The enchanting hand-drawn worlds of Disney, the poetic beauty of Studio Ghibli, and my childhood love of anime were consistently bubbling up behind my traditional artistry, but I just never knew how to grasp that inspiration and turn it into art.
In 2019, a lifelong dream came true when I traveled to Japan. That trip sparked something profound in me. It wasn’t just the places I saw; it was the way they made me feel. I wanted to capture those emotions through a "rose-tinted" lens, painting dreamlike interpretations of the moments I experienced along the way. I realized there was no better way to express the vibrancy of Japan than through the high-pigmented medium of Gouache, which has brought me here.
This collection is my love letter to Japan—a tribute to the places, the art, and the people who have shaped my journey and inspired me to find my own artistic voice.
